NEVER look a police officer in the eye!!!

So today as I was driving to the bank, I passed an officer who was sitting right in a turn lane and kind of blocking traffic. I just looked in his window as I passed by and looked right in his eye, probably with the look of, "Why are you parked right here??? There won't be any fast cars going by!" Well, I found out quickly! He waited patiently for me to go through the bank teller and then I heard his siren behind me. He walks up to my car as I am rolling down the window and says, "YOUR REGISTRATION IS EXPIRED." In my head I'm thinking , "That's all??? You are pulling me over for that??? Shouldn't you be zapping really fast cars and THEN giving out expired registration to them???" Instead, I said, " I just checked it the other day and it says 08 on it. August right?(which I really did check)" He replies with, "No it's 05 of 08." Which doesn't make sense because we bought the car last June and didn't get our plates until middle of June! So anyways, now I have a $30 fee on top of getting the registration. I know it's my fault for not checking it good enough, but it really bothers me for being pulled over just for that! And I really was surprised that it was expired! O.K. enough of my venting :)

yes...THAT is ridiculous. Don't worry, I will ALWAYS be on your side when it comes to "Police officers are LAME..." Because, well...I've been thrown into jail for no obvious reasons.

I say we petition that they go around cracking meth-houses instead of sitting at Bank drive-thrus!

I got pulled over two weeks ago for the same thing!!! Only I got off easy. I told him we had been quarantined with hand foot and mouth disease and he kind of looked confused and said, "well you take care of that today Tara." (sounded just like my dad!) I think it's really dumb that he didn't just remind you to do it. It's so easy to forget.

Errrr, I hate that one. When I had just got my license, I was headed home from Salt Lake in a huge blizzard. The stinkin' cop pulled me over for the registration, it was literally like a week overdue. But I couldn't see a thing and didn't dare pull back onto the freeway, so I sat and cried on the shoulder.

Holy Cow - how annoying is that? Seriously - I'll be much more cautious to never meet a police officer's eyes! Honestly, though, whenever I pass them I always look straight ahead anyway - I just don't want any attention brought to me - you never know - you might have something funky going on with your registration expiration dates! :)

Oh, I would have been SO mad! At least it's only $30 - here in MO it's quite a bit more.

Rebecca, was it that same 12 year old cop that we became friends with. If not, maybe he will pull some strings for you.

Oh, what a bummer! I agree, they should spend their time elsewhere. I drove around Spokane for almost 1 month without the proper license plate and was so nervous every time I saw a cop. All because our van failed emissions (way more strict than MO :) )and then it took forever to get it fixed and to get all the necessary papers together.
Raquel, you crack me up!
