So, I was a little disappointed when I knew I wasn't going to be going to the Stadium of Fire this year, as it always gets me into even more of the patriotic mood. However, that morning as I was in the car all by myself (which is a very rare occasion), I was listening to the radio station, as they were talking about our wonderful country we live in and how blessed we are to have such freedom, I got a littel teary eyed. That is how the patriotic side comes out in me. It hits my soul and makes me cry happy tears and sad tears for all the wonderful men and women who are now and have in the past served our country to help keep it free. I'm so proud of our soldiers who are even now working hard to keep us free and to help others be free. I have never been one to protest any wars, as I see it as us helping others to have the freedom we have, or at least give them a glimpse of what it could be. When I lived in China, I remember the times I would be watching the news with Tom Brokaw and all of a sudden it would go blank for a minute because the Chinese government was controlling what we(or mostly just the Chinese people) saw. We were also not allowed to invite our Chinese friends to church with us or ever have any religious material sitting out on our end tables when we had Chinese friends over. Can you imagine being controlled like that???? I think many Americans take for granted the freedoms we have. In my opinion, if we have the opportunity to help others have freedom(like what's going on right now in the wars we've been fighting), then we should do what we can to help in that effort. Keith was a marine for 4 years and then involved in the Air Guard for many years after that. I'm so proud of him for the time he gave to our country. Now, having said all of this, I am going to be very hypocritical, as I say I think it will be hard if any of my boys choose to fight for our country. I would for sure support their decision, but I can imagine how hard it is for all of the families right now who have loved ones in the war. We just have to pray that they will all keep being successful in their efforts and be safe.
I hope you all had a very happy 4th of July. We had a great day. We spent it with my sister, Rachelle, and her family. Here are some fun pictures from the day.

Here we all are waiting for the parade to begin.
I love these pictures of the backs of the kids patiently waiting for the parade :)

I love the holiday too and I echo your patriotism. What a cute bunch of a family!
Going to China is one of the things that has had the most influence on my patriotism. I am always amazed to think of the freedoms that we have that are so easy to take for granted.
Rebecca, what a sweet post!! I haven't been to a 4th of July parade for a long time - looks SO fun!!
Ya know I feel ya on this one!! Emotional holiday for me!
Such cute boys! I am so glad you have a blog. It has been great running with you. Thanks for inspiring me.
It looks like you guys had so much fun! We need to get together sometime soon! I would love to see ya!
I couldn't have said it better. I was teary eyed on the 4th because I was in Peru. No fireworks, no "I'm proud to be an American..." I truly missed it!
And, of course, cute kids as usual!
Daxon is SO big! Looks like a great time. Dude misses Kordin, he mentions him just about every time we drive by your old house. It was great to hear from you.
I to love the 4th, basically all July. We loved going to the Parade, and getting all the loot that comes with a good 4th of July celebration.
Looks like Keith had it off! Bonus.
