Tuesday was Kordin's first day of school. It was so fun seeing him be so excited to go to school! I remember just like yesterday, when I was taking him as a 3 month old to his babysitter, Mary Ann, so that I could go to school and teach 2nd grade! He was so little when I left him and he luckily had a wonderful family who raised him, along with Keith and I, for two years. Now he is this amazing boy with the best personality!! He isn't this great child just because of Keith and I! There are so many people who have made Kordin the sweet boy he is. For one, he was lucky enough to have Mary Ann, Royce and their family all to himself for those two years that I had to leave him. They were so great to him. Then he has this amazing circle of family (Nana, Papa, cousins, aunts and uncles) who he knows love him so much. All of the wonderful people in Kirksville who treated him like their own also had a huge impact on who he has become and is still becoming :) I truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child and I am so thankful to all of you who have contributed to his great life so far :)
Here is Kordin standing in line to go into his classroom. All the kindergarten teachers had signs on their doors saying if anyone over 48 inches tall stepped through the door, then the class would explode. I guess that's one way of keeping all the parents out of the classroom on the first day. To tell you the truth, I think that was a great idea, cuz I saw quite a few kids crying and I don't know they would've let their parents leave if they walked into the classroom.
Here is Kordin's Aunt Rachelle and cousin, Morgen, who came to welcome him home off the bus on his first day with a slurpee. He was sure happy to see them :) This is one huge perk of living closer to family. They can share in the excitement of things like the first day of school :)
Kordin had a great first day and loves his teacher. I'm so excited to hear about all he learns this year. It's fun being on the other side of school for a change, after being the teacher for 10 years. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my boys right now and share in all their newfound joys and interests!
Sorry about the awkward reading on a couple of these pictures. I can't figure out how to fix it :)
