Ireland : Part 1

So, the whole thought of an Ireland trip began way back in January, when my sisters and I took our dad out for a late Christmas present "dinner with his girls". Once we had eaten, he handed us each a paper with words like Ireland and September 17-27 on it. He was retiring at the end of August and wanted to take us all on a trip for his "retirement party". Honestly, I remmeber thinking, "I sure wish I was excited for this," and "I don't think I can leave my family for 10 days!!!" , but not really worrying about it, cuz it was soooooooo far away. Luckily, thanks to a great husband(who can handle the house and kids just as well as I), and awesome friends(Carli, Jenna, Lisa) and my mom who said they would help out with babysitting and also bringing meals over while I was gone, I finally got excited about it the week before we left, once I knew that my family would be o.k.

So we took off on Wednesday, September 17.

Day 1-2

Here are my sister ,Krista, and I wearing our sleep masks that were supposed to help us sleep, but I didn't get a wink of sleep :)

The whole group at Trinity College going on 24 hours of no sleep, but we didn't want sleep so we could get over the jet lag quicker ???? We ended up staying awake for 32 hours!!!

This was us eating at Lemons, as we were trying to stay awake :)

Day 3

Rachelle and I on the top floor of the Double Decker Bus taking a tour around Dublin. It was the best city! I reccommend you all visiting there :)

Dublin Castle which is still used.

Pic 1- Krista staniding in front of the king's chair. He was a very large man.-Pic 2- The king would have dinners here and had mirrors strategically place on all the walls so that he could see everyone from where he was sitting. Pic. 3 beautiful chandeliers Pic. 4 the Queens dressing room. Pic. 5 - a picture of what the castle looked like hundreds of years ago.

Church of Christ

My aunt Donna, Rachelle and I giving our feet a rest in a display at a cool store kind of like H&M.

Day 4-5
Saturday, we drove to Ballyvaughn on the west coast and stayed in this cute little Bed and Breakfasts. There were probably 1000 Bed and Breakfasts that we passed during our 10 day stay there. They really like travelling that way through their country.

The harbor in Ballyvaughn

September 21st was our dad's birthday, so it was a one of a kind birthday for him in Ireland :)

We found this beach on the west coast.
It had some interesting rock formations.

This was my shout out to Keith a thousand miles away :)

Erica and I beaching it

This was just across from the beach. I like it because it shows how they really did use only rocks for all of their fences. Most of the rock fences were sooooooo old. Way back when they were farming the land, the soil was so rocky that they stacked all the rocks to keep their animals in their own pastures. It's amazing. You can see these all across the country.
The Cliffs of Moher

This was called the Barren.
For dad's birthday, we took him to this castle where they served dinner and put on a great singing show. These castles were neat to be in, cuz they really were so old!!!

Krista, Rachelle and Lindsay on the stairwell of the castle

Ireland Part 2 soon to come :)
