Thanks to the help of many wonderful friends in Kirksville, (Alana, Jayne, Ruth and Andrew, Tiffany, Tara and Christmas) I was able to get my sweet boys out of the house so we could finish up. The boys thought they were helping, but usually what happened was, as I got things packed up, they would go through it and take it out to see what was in it. One of the biggest blessings was when Alana took the two older boys at 4:00 on Saturday and fed them and put them to bed and Tara took Daxon till about 10:00!! As we were cleaning and finishing loading the truck, we were finding that everything WAS NOT going to fit! Luckily for us, a few people stopped by at around that time and took alot of things off of our hands. Melissa and Brandon showed up at about 10 and took and bought lots of things Melissa even went into my house being 39 weeks pregnant and vacuumed the whole house!! Unfortunately for her, it didn't put her into labor until about 2 weeks later- today !! Congratulations on the birth of your sweet new baby girl, Kamry :) Just a side note- ever since before I got married, I was going to name my baby girl Kamry, but now that I am done and am not having any more kids, I'm so glad that Melissa has a cute little girl named Kamry!!! Back to the story- Brandon was outside with Keith trying to help him figure out what to do with our big green John Deer truck that so many of the kids in K'ville had loved driving around during these last couple of years. We had a couple of people in line who said they would take it if we couldn't fit it, but I knew the boys would have been heart-broken if that wasn't there when we got to Utah! So in this picture, you can see what they ended up doing. Yes, they strapped it down on top of the Penske cab. It was quite the site as Keith drove to Utah. You could see many people looking up at it and laughing as he drove by :)
Not long after that, we finished cleaning the house and got to bed at Alana and Brett's house at about midnight. How lucky we are to have had such good friends who opened their house up to our whole family that night! Keith woke up early and got going. Our plan was for him to always be a couple of hours ahead of us so we didn't have to go so slow and get there close to the same time :) The boys and I hung out with Alana and the kids for a little while before we left and here are a couple of pictures. We sure will miss them. Kordin will miss his best little buddy, Benjamin too!
These two are just 2 weeks apart- best buddies for life!
Alana was like a little angel to me while in Kirksville. She was one of those friends who always showed up when I needed someone the most :)
Next, we drove to Kansas City airport where my wonderful mom was meeting me and taking Daxon on the plane with her back to SLC, so I wouldn't have to drive with 2 babies. I'm so lucky to have a mom who is always trying to help make things easier for her own children. Recently one of my friends moms passed away. My heart just broke for her when I heard, because I thought about how terribly heart-broken I would be if my mom passed away. Not everyone has such good moms like my friend and I. It has made me appreciate my mom even more.
So once we got Daxon off with his nana, we were off to try to catch up with Keith. We were planning to get to Kearney that night and stay at the great Holiday Inn there that has a fun water park inside. We were making great time until just about 20 miles out of Kearney when I looked off to the left and told Kordin to look at the huge black cloud coming our way. Not long after that, GIGANTIC rain drops started falling and a huge wind hit us almost tipping us. I pulled over right away and Kordin looked back and said, "Mom, our top just flew over those cars!" I looked back and he was right. The top to our car topper had flown off into the median. I jumped out of our car to check the stuff in the topper and luckily none of that had flown out yet! I got it all into the car and then made the quarter mile trek(yes, it felt like a very long trek) across the highway into the median to get the top. I finally got it, but fought with it to get it back to my car and into the back. It kept wanting to blow me along with it! I know that I have never been this scared in my life!! When I finally got into my car, I had a stomach ache from all the extra adrenalin flowing through my body!!! I still have huge battle bruises along the left side of my body where I was fighting with it. I know that Heavenly Father was watching over my boys and I during this, because we really ended up being safe! From there to Kearney, I only drove the minimum speed of 45 to be safe and we met up with Keith there who had only been about 1/2 hour ahead of us. I'm so glad he got there before the storm hit, though, cuz that green machine on top of his cab could have caused worse trouble!!
The next day we drove to Rawlins, WY and this time I stuck with Keith, cuz I was too chicken to get too far away from him with the topper on top. As we were driving that day I looked back and saw Karson sucking his toes. This is a new trick of Daxon's and Karson decided to try it himself :)
Here are the boys with their daddy during one of the breaks together. They loved climbing up into the cab with their daddy.

I'm so glad you made it safe! Funny that you tied the tractor to the top of the penske-----the boys would have been really sad if you'd left it!
What a wild ride you all had!! I am glad that you made it all safe and sound! That green machine rigging job is quite a scream!!
I'm glad you're back in Utah! I love your blog, and your boys are so cute! I can't believe how big they are. Wow, time flies doesn't it?!? We need to go to lunch before school starts, call me!
What a story! We drove by Thanksgiving point yesturday and it made me think of you guys! I am glad you are starting to get settled, we are barely reaching that point!!
What an adventure! =) We miss you already, but know that you're having a great time in Utah. =)
What great parents to strap the beloved John Deer to the top of the car :)
Great to hear you made it to Utah. Sounds like quite the adventure!! Great idea to put the jeep up on the roof. I bet the boys were very grateful!
